Subject: Incredibly hypocritical coverage of the Kashmir Issue

Dear Editor

I am flabbergasted that "international" media, like Time, would so clearly show bias and hypocricy in coverage of an issue which could
very well lead to a nuclear war so close to the start of a new century - India's refusal to allow the Kashmiri people to decide their own fate.

Your writer, Mr. Fathers, in the story on Kashmir either deliberately, or due to some inherent bias against fair and just resolutions of problems affecting Muslims around the world,
chooses NOT to mention that there has been a United Nations reslution for DECADES demanding that the Kashmiri people be allowed to decide whether they want to join India or Pakistan.

India has consistently refused to permit that, being 100% sure they would choose to join Pakistan. Pakistan does not "claim" Kashmir
as India does. Instead, Pakistan, aware of Kashmir's Muslim population's desires, and Indian brutalities there, has for almost Fifty Years been asking that those people be allowed to choose their own fate, that was denied them since 1947, as clearly stated and demanded in a United Nations' resolution.

Pakistan's attempts to "internationalize" the issues are merely efforts to bring that "other" UN resolution to the forefront of world
awareness, when UN resolutions are being used daily to bomb Iraq.

How ironic that a 50 year old injustice, and its related UN resolution, are not even mentioned by Mr. Fathers or your publication. Yet,
writers like him, and media like yours, immediately find it justifiable to bomb Iraq (a rogue government of a Muslim country) even before the ink has dried on the UN resolutions permitting such attacks!

The job of responsible media and journalists is to ensure that the truth, and the facts, are clearly stated, so that the world can see
where the real injustice lies. That would help ensure that the real problem, the forced Indian Occupation of Jammu & Kashmir, and its steadfast refusal to comply with UN resolutions asking for those people's right to decide their own fate, are brought to the forefront - so justice can prevail, and a dangerous war, with serious potential consequences for escalation into a global conflict, can be avoided - permanently.

Thank You.
