Are Americans "Wussies"?

But it is easy, though silly & hypocritical, to call others cowards

I too DON'T think Americans are "wussies" (especially the brave young people of this, or any, nation that join their Armed Forces by CHOICE) BUT, let us see about your remaining assertions and self-delusional and grandiose statements....

Our "Elite troops" have never faught a country even HALF our size....we take on Vietnam, Somalia, and now Afghanistan etc. types (EACH Smaller or more stone age than the last one we took on and in each one we were defeated). We could not even pull hostages out of Iran. We saw one poor pilot's dead body dragged in the streets of Somalia and we pulled out....

Worse, we used the Afghans through Pakistan to fight the Soviets...thank God the USSR died its own miserable death. If they had not been defeated in Afghanistan (which led to the beginning of the end for them) they would have taken one country at a time while our elite troops would have been in airconditioned barracks sipping Pepsis and reading Playboy.

Lastly, having a few special ops guys in a totally desolate area miles from anyplace with an enemy or in an area controlled by friedly forces does not make us a nation of "brave warriors".

(NOTE: The US soldiers who sign up for duty are NOT cowards, they ARE brave men and women who ARE willing to die for their country, as are the Afghans or people of any other nation. It is the US government that the above discussion applies to as well as keyboard warriors who delude themselves by calling the enemy a coward but not having the guts to go into battle themselves.)

What made the Americans brave in the past was the people's (and hence their government's) willingness to take on and bring down tyranny, whether of the British or the possible one of the Nazis. Now, we are the ones exporting, supporting or financing (with OUR TAX DOLLARS) countries like Israel that occupy Palestinian lands, commit genocide, assasinate opponents WHILE being scummy enough to spy on the UNITED STATES, the nation and poeple that feeds and saves their puny miserable butts.

Ha! Bravo on bravery and being a warrior soldier. We can press a button from 2000 miles and kill 1000,000 people and we are brave? Poor Bill Maher of Politically Incorrect, he gets the WHITE HOUSE telling him to "watch what you are saying" when he in fact spoke the truth. So much for freedom of speech and press in our country which is supposed to have it better than ANY place in the world.

> 3) The Taliban's brave warriors are deserting
> http://www.cnn.com/2001/WORLD/asiapcf/central/09/27/ret.chinoy.otsc/

1. The Taliban are not God' gift to the Afghans or anyone, so any forced recruit SHOULD try to run away. BUT, that does not make them cowards. If you were forced to join a local gang and you expected a rival gang to do a drive by shooting, would you stick around?

2. The Taliban are (IMHO incorrectly) standing up to the mightiest nation on the planet AND the rest of the world. That may make them wrong and silly but not cowards.

3. They did the SAME thing when the Soviets invaded. The Soviets took over Kabul in 8 HOURS. It took them 10 years of body bags to get out. Do we have the stomach for another Vietnam or is nuking 'em the extent of our bravery?

4. Beware the naked man who offers you his shirt....the Russian, and India (that supported the USSR in the cold war), would like NOTHING better than to see the Americans humiliated in the land they were handed their butts, so be wary of their "supporting" your going in for a war that will mean lots of US casualties and make them no additional friends in the world.

> 4) Afghani cities are empty
> http://www.cnn.com/2001/WORLD/asiapcf/central/09/27/ret.afghanistan.mood/

Silly point. US cities were deserted following a single day's events....aircraft are flying empty, airlines going out of business.....and we are not even expecting the world's biggest power to bomb or nuke us....so does that mean ALL Americans are cowards?

> 5) Our airlines are secure
> http://www.cnn.com/2001/US/09/27/rec.bush.airports/index.html

Is that why the President is begging people to start flying again?

> 6) Other wannabes are being rounded up
> http://www.cnn.com/2001/US/09/27/inv.hazmat.arrests/index.html

Unfortunately, and this saddens me, there is racial profiling going on, while I am sure some real members of the terror cells will still slip away.

> 7) More evidence/info about al Qaeda is -pouring- in
> http://www.cnn.com/2001/US/09/27/inv.hijacking.similarities/index.html

Gee. If there is all this info POURING in why wasn't someone in the CIA, the FBI, the NSC the XYZ etc. PORING over it before 5000 innocent people died?

> 8) Our markets are beginning to recover
> http://www.usatoday.com/money/charts.htm

I (even though I am merely a recent America) put money into the market on Monday morning (money I was saving for something I had been waiting all year to buy) and even after the recovery of the last few days it is HALF of what i put in that Monday. Shame on our money loving people who do not have faith in the US economy and pulled back. Even now, it is PROFIT takers buying up bargains, not loyalty showing people putting their money where their flag waving mouths are.

> 9) And very soon now, the deaths of these people from around the world
> will be avenged.

So, now we, the "civilized" and "compassionate" US and world are like the terrorists......they were avenging US policy injustices against their civilians they were powerless to change by striking at US citizens here. Now we do it back to them but without solving the root problems of our support for oppressive and occupying forces abroad that we arm and finance.....

We then wait for X days, weeks or years before someone slips through and causes more devastation.

> It's Judgement Day

We don't learn, do we? We can't stop playing GOD.....We are calling the scene of the WTC tragedy GROUND ZERO. We KNOW what that means...a site of a NUCLEAR EXPLOSION. Can we please stop giving ideas to people....AND tempting fate and God at the same time to show us what a real "Judgement Day" looks like.....?

> How cool is that!

How dumb is that?

God forgive y(our) audacity and our sins and give us the wisdom to promote justice and liberty for ALL that the American people aspire to and believe in - but the US government never practices abroad.
