Benefiting? Hmmmm...., housing 2 MILLION illiterate, poor, drug peddling and gun toting Afghans, when Pakistan's economy was in tatters was the first major benefit....especially when the US used them and us and turned and walked away.....After all, these people had defeated the Soviets (and PAF had shot down SOVIET fighter planes....something the USAF is yet to do in its history) and won a promise of revenge from the Soviets some day....that was the second benefit.

Now, the Taliban (trained by the CIA and US government funded and established camps) are threatening Pakistan. Nice third benefit. And the fourth one, another two million or so Afghans knocking at our door is about ready....

Let us not forget, even the FUNDAMENTALIST parties in Pakistan (the ones who NEVER won 2% of the vote) were FUNDED by the U$ to whip up religious frenzy against the Soviets....these are the same guys who were attacking or shooting people like me in Pakistan for being liberal and pro-democracy.....and are now the ones burning American flags while the public here thinks they represent Pakistan's population (they don't) without knowing who created the monster...

The last one I forgot, 11 YEARS of General Zia, a dic(k)tator who wiped out our constitution and any chance of democracy thriving....

We cunning Pakistanis sure made out like bandits....thank you government of USA.....when can we be of service to you again....we've been used, dumped, abused and then forced to be ready for re-use, in the

- 50s (U2 flights over USSR),

- 60s (containing USSR influence in India, yes, India was a Soviet lapdog while Pakistan was a US ally),

- 70s (when despite Pakistan's defence treaties with and entreaties to the US, the "Sixth Fleet En Route to Help You" line became the most hated false promise people remember the US for),

- 80s (imposing a dictator so he would take on the Soviets while crushing the public and democracy....democracy is good to talk about for others, not good to let them have, as dictators do US bidding better than elected rulers do),

- 90s Afghan refugee crisis (but total end to assistance).....now, (drum roll, please), it's the

- 00s....we need them darn Pakistanis again, for another Saddam like evil WE created.....

Damn, what is wrong with these Pakistanis, why are they not dancing in joy to be working for the sincere and dependable US government again...and why are they afraid of these gun toting fundamentalists....after all, if someone was trained by the CIA they must surely be pretty harmless.

Oh, ooops, those are the people we in the US armed, financed and trained and let lose on the Pakistani population ....because we did not think we would need them again....hmmm....

What was it someone said...."Those who do not learn from history are condemned to repeat it...." Ah, fuggedaboutit....we'll just take the advice of our RUSSIAN friends (yeah, communists are the good guys, yeah, I almost believe it. OK, once more with passion, "Communists are our friends. Ha!") and arm and the Northern Alliance and we will wonder about the next Osama that comes out of THAT group in 5 years or so.....

Sad, so sad. 5000 unknowing, unwitting, innocent civilians had to give their lives in NYC for the reaction to US foreign policy they did not even know of. Yet, no one is speaking clearly about doing the RIGHT thing for those who suffered because of our unjust and dumb policies abroad......will this time be any different, my fellow Americans?

Thank you.
